Quigley charged with murder

Second degree murder charges have been laid against Ryan James Quigley.

The 34-year-old Kelowna man, taken into custody Thursday morning in a back alley at Coronation Avenue and St. Paul Street, has now been charged with the murder of his fianceé, Aimee Jane Parkes.
Shortly after 10 a.m. Tuesday police found the body of Parkes, 35, in her residence at Hiawatha Mobile Home Park on Lakeshore Road after she failed to show up to work that morning.

The circumstances surrounding her death were deemed to be suspicious and the Kelowna RCMP Serious Crime Unit commenced a homicide investigation.

Quigley was quickly identified to be a person of interest in the case and police requested public assistance in locating him and an associated vehicle.
Thursday morning around 10 a.m. plainclothes officers located the suspect vehicle on the 500 block of Coronation Avenue and Quigley was found to be inside.

He was taken into custody without incident and later faced questioning by police.
Quigley has been charged with second degree murder in connection with the death of Aimee Parkes.

He remains in custody and is scheduled to appear in court on April 4, 2014.
