Murder suspect arrested

Ryan James Quigley is in police custody.

Kelowna RCMP have confirmed Quigley was arrested about 9:30 a.m. Thursday in Kelowna.

Quigley is being held in connection with the murder of his fianceé, Aimee Parkes, 35.

Charges have not yet been laid.

Parkes' body was discovered in a home they shared in the Hiawatha Mobile Home Park Tuesday morning.

Wednesday afternoon, RCMP released Parkes identity and stated they wanted to speak with Quigley as a person of interest.

According to friends, Parkes and Quigley had been dating for nearly two years.

They got engaged in April 2013 and were scheduled to be married this summer.

One friend told Castanet things had broken down in the relationship and Parkes had been trying to get Quigley to vacate the home for the past couple of weeks.

She had apparently asked the RCMP for help because he wouldn't leave.

This is Kelowna's second murder of 2014.

Chris Ausman, 32, was found deceased on a sidewalk on Highway 33 in Rutland during the early morning hours of January 26.

No arrest has yet been made in that case.
