Cops suspect murder

UPDATE 5:00 P.M. 

The Kelowna RCMP Serious Crime Unit is now looking to speak with a person of interest and locate an associated vehicle in connection with the suspicious death investigation at Haiwatha Mobile Home Park.

Shortly before 10 a.m. yesterday (Tuesday) police found the body of 35-year-old Aimee Jane Parkes in her residence after she failed to show up to work that morning.

RCMP say her death was deemed to be suspicious and investigators believe that tomorrow's (Thursday) autopsy results will confirm that she was murdered.

Serious Crime Investigators are now looking to speak with Ryan James Quigley as a person of interest in this ongoing investigation.

Quigley's current whereabouts are unknown and police are asking for public assistance in locating him.

He is described as:

  • Caucasian male
  • 34 years old
  • 5 ft 10 in (178 cm)
  • 154 lb (70 kg)
  • Brown, medium length curly hair
  • Green eyes

Police are also searching for a burgundy or purple 2002 Suzuki Grand Vitara, bearing BC Licence Plate 944REL known to be associated to Quigley.

RCMP warn that if you see Quigley, do not approach him, rather call 911 immediately.

Anyone with any information regarding the whereabouts of Ryan James Quigley, the vehicle, or the investigation in general is asked to call the Kelowna RCMP, Cst Meyers, at 250-762-3300.

Update -- April 2, 1 p.m.

RCMP officers and crime scene investigators are still at the scene of what police are calling a suspicious death at the Hiawatha mobile home park in Kelowna.

A body was taken from the scene earlier Wednesday morning, but police are not saying much more about the incident.

Neighbours in the close knit community are shocked and call the death a tragedy.

Update -- 4:35 P.M.  Police have secured the scene and are investigating after finding a body inside a Kelowna home earlier this morning.
 
At 9 a.m., Kelowna RCMP received a request to check the welfare of a Kelowna woman and attended unit 9 at the Hiawatha Mobile Home Park on Lakeshore Road.

The body of a woman was found inside and her death has been deemed suspicious. The Kelowna RCMP Serious Crime Unit is investigating.
 
The woman's identity is being withheld pending notification of her next of kin.
 
No further information is available at this time.

UPDATE 12:40 P.M. - The RCMP K9 unit has arrived at the scene. Police say more resources are on the way. Neighbours believe the trailer in question was occupied by a couple from Australia.


There is a police presence at the Hiawatha Mobile Home Park on Lakeshore Road.

Police haven't said anything official, however, yellow tape has gone up around the scene.

According to neighbours an ambulance left the area earlier this morning, but it is unclear if there was anybody on board.
