Blogging for good
Dan Thiessen is trying to spread a little more good in the world.
The Kelowna man has started a website, www.bloggerthoughts.com, as a portal to share the good things that people are doing locally and abroad.
The website consists of three streams; the first is a blog written by Thiessen, the second is a section where guest bloggers share their stories, and the third is dedicated to displaying videos of what Thiessen calls 'intentional acts of kindness.'
“My whole thing is leaving a good legacy, how are you going to be remembered? It's about leaving a large footprint, a positive footprint,” he explained.
Thiessen said he decided to start the site after going through a rough couple of years in his personal life. The blog is his way of sharing the journey he has been on to rebuild his own life, but also to encourage others to share the good in their lives.
“It’s cathartic to be able to write about it on the other side of it," he said, but added, “the goal at the end of the day is to inspire people to do more good.”
The former minister said this is not about any one religion just about how everyone can do their part to make the world a better place.
"There are a lot of good people in the world with different belief systems. I just want to encourage goodness, and leave a legacy."
You can check out the blog here, and if you know someone who is making the Okanagan, or the world, a better place to live, Thiessen is eager to hear all about it.
