Controlled burning in park
The Regional District of Central Okanagan is advising the public that they are doing a controlled burn today (Sunday) in Scenic Canyon Regional Park.
This is to dispose of fire hazard debris, including piles of pine beetle infested material, collected as part of large fuel modification projects underway within a 21-hectare section of Scenic Canyon Regional Park.
The appropriate open burning permits for fire fuel hazard reduction are in place and a custom venting forecast from the BC Wildfire Management Branch predicts good venting conditions at the site.
With good air quality and venting conditions open burning is allowed today for those eligible Central Okanagan property owners with permits from their local fire authority.
