Cyclist hit by oncoming traffic
As the weather warms up both motorists and cyclists need to be reminded to look out for each other.
A woman in the Mission was reminded of that Tuesday afternoon after she was was hit by a vehicle while crossing Gordon Drive on her bicycle.
According to witnesses at the scene the woman was riding her bike across Gordon Drive from Casorso when she was hit by an SUV.
"Traffic going northbound along Gordon had a fresh green light and the cyclist was bumped at that time by traffic attempting to go northbound," says RCMP Cst. Brad Smith who says, on the surface, it appears as if the cyclist may have been at fault.
"That still needs to be confirmed. I can confirm that a cyclist was in the crosswalk crossing Gordon and that traffic was going northbound and, in fact, southbound, had a green light."
The cyclist was taken to hospital with undetermined injuries.
The driver of the SUV was not injured.
Neither the bike nor the vehicle sustained much damage.
