New command for Kelowna Dragoons
After four years in charge, Lt.-Col. Nigel Whittaker relinquished his command of the BC Dragoons Regiment to Lt.-Col. Andy McQuilkin in a change of command ceremony.
The Sunday afternoon ceremony was held outside at the Brigadier Angle Armoury on Lawrence Avenue in Kelowna.
Several dozen guests attended the ceremony including local dignitaries, members of the serving military from BC and Washington State, and the extended BCD Regimental Family, consisting of veterans, cadets and supporters.
Outgoing Commanding Officer Lt.-Col. Nigel Whittaker shared some successes his group has had since he took command in 2009 and how much he will miss the group.
