Snowbirds return

The Canadian Forces Snowbirds are returning to Kelowna this summer.

Canada's iconic aerial acrobatic demonstration team are scheduled to perform over Okanagan Lake Wednesday, July 30 at 5 p.m.

While details of the Snowbirds visit are still being worked out, officials with the Rotary Club of Kelowna, who are sponsoring the event, expect the show to last 30 to 40 minutes.

Rotary Club officials are currently working on getting sponsors for the event to help offset the cost of bringing the team to Kelowna.

A VIP banquet is also being planned for the night before the show.

The banquet is a bonus for fans as traditionally a member of the Snowbirds' team is at each table.

Any funds raised through the banquet and donations at the time of the show will go to help with several local community projects.

The Snowbirds performed at Peachfest in Penticton in 2013, they last flew in Kelowna two years ago.

The Kelowna show is one of only three BC performances by the Snowbirds this year.

They are scheduled to fly at the Abbotsford Airshow and at an event in White Rock.

More details on the Snowbirds' Kelowna visit are expected to be released later this summer.
