Prolific offender behind bars

A 25-year-old Kelowna man, deemed a prolific offender, faces a number of potential charges after police seized a firearm during a search Thursday morning.

Members of the Kelowna RCMP Street Enforcement Team, with assistance from the Southeast District Emergency Response Team, executed a search warrant on a residence on the 200 block of Dougall Road North.

Four women and two men were taken into custody without incident inside the home.

During the search police seized a loaded Tokarev 7.62 calibre handgun, a replica Beretta handgun, equipment capable of cloning credit cards and various small quantities of methadone, marijuana, methamphetamine, oxycodone, apo-temazepam, steroids, percocet and clonazepam.

Jesse James McKnight, 25, was held in custody while the other four were released.

McKnight faces a number of possible firearms charges.

In 2007 McKnight, then 18, was sentenced to 50 months in jail and handed a lifetime firearms ban for various offences in Penticton.

He was scheduled to appear in court Friday.

The investigation is ongoing.
