Bacon trial in Kelowna

UPDATE THURSDAY JUNE 26: Crown Prosecutors have confirmed the trial of three men accused in the Aug 14, 2011 murder of Jonathan Bacon will be held in Kelowna.

A trial date has not been set.

Jujhar Singh Khun-Khun, Jason Thomas McBride and Michael Kerry Jones have all been charged with first degree murder in the death of Bacon outside the Delta Grand Hotel in Kelowna.

The three men accused of gunning down one of the notorious Bacon brothers in Kelowna three summers ago have applied to have their trial moved to another city.

Jujhar Singh Khun-Khun appeared alongside Jason Thomas McBride and Michael Kerry Jones this morning via video at the Kelowna Courthouse. The change in venue application will begin in April and is expected to last for three days.

Jonathan Bacon was killed outside the Delta Grand Okanagan Resort on Aug. 14, 2011.

He was with two gang associates, Hells Angel Larry Amero and Independent Soldier James Riach, along with two women at the time of the attack.

Amero suffered non life-threatening injuries and Riach was not hurt. One of the women, a niece of the president of the Haney chapter of the Hells Angels, was paralyzed in the shooting. She is now suing the alleged shooters, along with the owners of both the hotel and the Lake City Casino.

The venue application hearing will begin on April. 8, 2014.
