One guilty after HA bust in Kelowna

A reputed Hells Angels associate has pled guilty to drug charges as a result of a raid on several Okanagan properties, including the HA clubhouse, in Kelowna in August of 2012.

A story published in The Province Tuesday says Orhan Saydam pled guilty to a single charge of unlawful possession of cocaine for the purpose of trafficking.

He is scheduled to be sentenced April 14.

Saydam was arrested along with seven others following a lengthy investigation.

The arrests came as part of a significant Federal Drug Enforcement Branch led investigation which netted $4 million in alleged drug money.

The investigation, dubbed "E-PREDICATE," lasted more than 20 months and was helped by contributions from RCMP Detachments and specialized units throughout the Southeast District, various US law enforcement agencies, the Mexican Federal Police and Panamanian authorities.

The investigation focused on allegations that marijuana was being produced to fund the importation of cocaine to Canada.

RCMP raided the Hells Angels clubhouse and a residence in Osoyoos.
