Bank robbery suspect in custody

Kelowna RCMP have an unidentified man in custody in connection with the city's first armed bank robbery of 2014.

Police were called to the TD Canada Trust branch in the Spall Plaza shortly after 3 p.m. yesterday (Sunday) for reports of an armed robbery.

The lone male suspect apparently entered the bank and demanded cash; he left with an undisclosed amount.

Police were able to track down and arrest the suspect early Monday morning.

He is scheduled to appear in court sometime today.

The branch, which was scheduled to be open until 4 p.m., was closed for the balance of the day while police investigated the robbery.

The bank has since reopened.
