New Year's Eve special
Recorded live from Stuart Park in Kelowna from 8 to 9:15 p.m. A technical glitch prevented us from having audio during the fireworks portion of the show.
The live show on Castanet was produced by Crosswood Productions: Jason Woodford, David Woodford, Jemma Carter and Sean Carter.
The night's event was put together by Festivals Kelowna.
"Based on the overwhelmingly positive response from the community, our event partners, and sponsors, we knew we had a winner on our hands with this new event," confirms Renata Mills, Executive Director, Festivals Kelowna. "It's been a little while since Kelowna has had an all ages appropriate event to ring in the New Year, so we knew there was an opportunity to meet that need in our community."
Free to attend, "New York New Year's" included skating on the outdoor ice rink, a twitter wall with a live feed (hashtag #NYEKelowna), multiple drop-in activities in the Kid's Snow Zone including the City of Kelowna's Park n 'Play program, Karaoke and Wii stations, and Canadian- themed games like "Toss the Beaver" and "Canadian Goose Egg Drop". A favourite from last year, there will also be a snow pile onsite for kids to climb upon and build a snowman.
Event partners included Castanet, Valley First, the City of Kelowna, Okanagan Strata Management, Streaming Cafe, 365 Productions, eVent!, Interior Savings, and Bell Media (Kelowna).
