Firefighter tree chipping for charity
The Kelowna Fire Department and the West Kelowna Fire Department will be hosting their third annual Christmas Tree Chipping for Charity event on January 4 and 5.
The cost is by donation and all proceeds go to the British Columbia Professional Fire Fighters Burn Fund.
The BCPFF is a charity that provides life saving, life supporting, and life enriching services to people in British Columbia. More than 3,700 professional firefighters in BC dedicate their time and skills to support burn survivors and increase the public's knowledge about fire and burn safety issues.
In years past the event has raised approximately $2,500-3,000.
The men and women of the Kelowna Fire Department work hard at raising money and supporting various charities. In 2013 they donated $100,000 to fund one of eight accommodation units at the new Burn Fund Center in Vancouver. Events like Tree Chipping for Charity help the department in making significant donations like this.
You can drop off your tree at the following locations between 8-5 p.m. Firefighters ask that you please remove all ornaments, tinsel and other objects from your tree.
