Missing Sun Peaks skiers found
Three lost skiers - 17 and 21-year-old sisters and a 40-year-old US woman - have been rescued after going out-of-bounds at Sun Peaks Resort.
Kamloops RCMP received a call from Sun Peaks just before 3 p.m. Friday, alerting them that the sisters used a cell phone to call their family for help after becoming lost in the backcountry. Phone contact was lost later in the day.
In a separate incident, a Washington woman went missing after she also went out-of-bounds. Responders were in contact with the woman, but weren’t able to ping her American phone for an exact location.
Sun Peaks Ski Patrol initially responded to the situation, but Kamloops Volunteer Search and Rescue and Kamloops RCMP were eventually brought in.
The sisters were located Friday evening. By Saturday morning Sun Peaks reported that all skiers had been rescued.
