Gospel Mission Christmas dinner
Volunteers outfitted in Santa Claus hats served up Christmas dinner for nearly 600 guests at Kelowna's Gospel Mission on Saturday.
The giant meal saw 40 turkeys, 16 ham, 500 pounds of potatoes and 90 pounds of vegetables served to the hungry guests by volunteers who began their preparations weeks ago, says Ami Catriona, the Gospel Mission's Marketing and Communications Director.
Christmas lights decorated the walls and a roaring log fireplace shown on TV 'warmed' the hundreds in attendance. Each guest also received a small package of stocking items.
In addition to its annual Christmas dinner, the Gospel Mission prepares meals for Easter and Thanksgiving as well.
