Bike shop delivers early present

Christmas has come early for Ronan Hazard and his sister Ruby.

You may remember Ronan's story told here on Castanet a few weeks ago.

The eight-year-old had saved all his birthday money and Christmas money for a couple of years in order to buy the bike of his dreams, a Yamaha dirt bike - only to have it stolen from the family garage back in October.

Terry Poirier, owner of Kelowna Yamaha saw the story on Castanet, met with his staff and decided to cancel the company Christmas party and replace Ronan's ride.

What we didn't tell you was the stolen bike was recovered, thanks to a tip, following the original story.

The bike was returned to the Hazard's who, in turn, took it to Kelowna Yamaha to have it checked out.

Poirier says bike was too far gone to be repaired cost effectively.

The bike had been spray painted, the back wheel was bent and damaged, and the shocks were damaged.

Poirier says it's what you would expect to see from a stolen bike.

Yamaha Canada also came through with touques, hoodies and gloves to outfit both kids.

Once he outgrows this bike, Ronan plans to hand the bike down to his younger sister Ruby.
