Armed robbery suspect arrested

Update 3:15 p.m. - A 38 year old man is in custody facing numerous potential charges after a pharmacy was robbed and a vehicle stolen earlier this morning.
On October 16, 2013 shortly after 8 am, the Kelowna RCMP responded to a report of a robbery at the Shopper's Drug Mart in Orchard Park Mall. An unknown man, apparently brandishing a weapon, demanded narcotics from the pharmacy and keys to a vehicle.
The man then fled in a stolen car with an undisclosed amount of drugs. The vehicle was spotted driving at a high rate of speed in an extremely dangerous manner before police were forced to abandon the pursuit due to the increasing risk to public safety. The vehicle was located damaged and abandoned on Fir Court.
Plainclothes and uniformed police flooded the area while a Police Service Dog tracked the suspect. The man was apprehended a short time later at an unrelated residence on Woods Road. Several bottles of drugs were recovered during the man's arrest as well as the search of the vehicle.
The investigation is ongoing.
The 38 year old man of no fixed address faces a number of potential charges in relation to Robbery with Violence, Theft of a Vehicle, and Flight from Police. He is expected to appear in Court on October 17, 2013.

Original Story 9 a.m. - RCMP have one man in custody after an apparent robbery at Shoppers Drug Mart in Orchard Park Mall.
According to RCMP, the man fled the store after the robbery and then stole a vehicle to escape.
The suspect was located several kilometres away, near the Super Save Gas Station on Highway 33.
According to a witness the suspect entered the convenience store and purchase a bottle of water.
He was arrested a short time later at a property behind the gas station.
Shoppers Drug Mart, at Orchard Park Mall, was closed this morning while police talked to witnesses.
