Around Town

I’m heading off to Montreal Thursday morning, but wanted to give you a heads up on what was happening around town this next week!

Saturday June 3rd is ACCESS AWARENESS DAY. The Central Okanagan Access Awareness Team will be doing a sidewalk cafe tour starting at noon (12 bells) from the parking lot at CITY PARK. Bring your sun hats, sun block, water, wheeling gloves, and stamina because you will be gone for a couple of hours. This walk will give you a new perspective on access issues in the downtown.

The Art Ark Gallery presents the opening reception for Marcia Harris “Carousels” exhibit on Saturday June 3rd from 1 to 4 pm. The artist will be in attendance. The Art Ark Gallery is located at 1295 Cannery Lane, behind Prospera Place. Owner Peter Werner has amassed an incredible collection of very cool art.

On Sunday, June 4th, please join my friends Lois and Miriam on the "Walk to Cure Juvenile Diabetes". The walk takes place at the Beautiful Mission Creek Greenway - meet near the ECCO Centre - with a start time of 11:00 am. They are so close to a cure for this life-threatening and life-altering disease - please help out if you can.

The Rotary Centre for the Arts invites you to the second Arts Club event in the Atrium. The event will take place on Monday June 5th, 2006 from 5-7pm with wine and appies!

This event gives all of us in the Arts Community a chance to mingle and see what is going on so please feel free to also bring any posters, brochures, or other information about arts-related events happening around our community.

Please RSVP ASAP, as we would like to plan catering accordingly. Admission is $5 and includes appetizers and refreshments from Staccatos. Please pass the word to all volunteers, employees and board members!
