Life and fitness balance!

Balance is key to success whether it’s in relationships, family, career, fitness and health or all of the above! Life can be a mad rush with all of its responsibilities! The most common reason (excuse)… “ there is never enough time!” is the culprit behind a large percentage of the population who have been unsuccessful at maintaining a fitness and health routine!

Studies show that 60% of Canadian adults don't get the recommended amount of physical activity, and over 25% of adults are not active at all! If lack of time is the reason for even a small percentage of the population, than the solution is to find some simple and very effective ways to incorporate fitness into the hectic schedule!

Getting creative is key! Wearing a suit or skirt and heals, or perhaps a hectic schedule with children does not have to stop you! Let’s look at some simple steps one needs to take to get started to making these important changes!

  • Decide you are ready and wanting to take the necessary steps towards a positive lifestyle change.
  • Write down a list of all areas you know changes need to be made: dietary, exercise, sleep… (any area of life).
  • Once clear on areas that need some tuning up, get creative! Brain storm and write down as many ways you can make changes: example; Dietary- grocery shop one time per week to stock up on healthy foods…. Cook extra portions of dinner, pre-pack tomorrow’s healthy lunch and snacks the night before… buy a healthy eating cook book…. Email or Facebook all your friends asking them for their favourite healthy meals and create your own book! Create as many possibilities and pick your top five! Try to incorporate these right away.
  • Write a step by step action plan each week of how you are going to incorporate… schedule.. or make changes into your routine to positively reflect your outcome.
  • Hire a professional for help! Trainer, dietician, naturopath, life coach, counsellor… which ever suits your needs! Having a professional support network can catapult your success!

Whether you fall under the categories of population not getting enough recommended physical activity, or the percentage that is not active at all… perhaps you are not included into those statistics because you are active... you just need more of a push! Taking the time to re-think, re-plan and re-organize your life and routine can give you the push in the right direction that will positively impact your health, future and possibly those around you!
