Surprise millionaire

Darcy Hickey was a millionaire for three months before he even realized it.

The Kamloops resident had a $1-million winning lotto ticket in his wallet for 12 weeks before he checked it and his life changed forever.

The latest Lotto Max winner in British Columbia matched all seven numbers to win a $1 million

Maxmillion prize from the July 6 draw.

“I was in absolute shock. I didn’t think it was real,” said Hickey after he checked the winning ticket. “I have dreamed of quitting my job, renovating my house and traveling.”

Hickey added that a new car is in the works and the money just might change his approach to life: “I won’t be so cheap....I mean frugal.”

Players have one year from the draw date on the ticket to come forward and claim any prizes.
