Hwy 5A opens at crash site

UPDATE: 5:30 a.m.

DriveBC and RCMP report the crash scene reopened to traffic about 12:12 a.m.


UPDATE: 9:20 p.m.

Drive BC said the estimated time of Highway 5A reopening is now pushed back an hour.

A collision involving a car and motorcycle closed the route 20 kilometres south of Kamloops and won't open until 11 p.m. 

A detour has been set up on via Highway 5.


ORIGINAL: 7:12 p.m.

Highway 5A is closed after a collision involving a car and motorcycle on Wednesday.

Kamloops RCMP said the incident occurred near Campbell Creek Road before 6 p.m.

“The public’s assistance in finding an alternate route is greatly appreciated,” said Sgt. Sascha Fesenko.

The highway will be closed for the next three to five hours while police conduct their investigation.

It is not clear the extent of injuries suffered to those in the vechile or what caused the collision.

DriveBC said Highway 5A is closed in both directions 20 km south of Kamloops and the estimated time of opening is 10 p.m.
