RCMP seek info on fatality

RCMP are looking for anyone with information on a fatal snowmobile accident in the Harp Mountain area near Barriere on the weekend.

Cpl. Dan Moskaluk said on Sunday Jan. 28 at approximately 12:40 p.m., Barriere RCMP received a report a snowmobiler had fallen into a creek bed and became pinned under his snowmobile, leading to his death.

“Barriere RCMP immediately activated search and rescue resources, with the deployment of the ‎Barriere and Kamloops search and rescue teams. SAR technicians were met by other snowmobilers in the area who had attempted to assist the man,” said Moskaluk.

“The SAR technicians confirmed that the man was found unresponsive and confirmed deceased. The body of the deceased 53-year-old Kamloops man was recovered that day.” 

Police are continuing to assist the BC Coroner Service with the investigation and Barriere RCMP would like to speak with any snowmobilers who have information regarding this incident, or those who assisted the search and rescue team at the scene.
