Sun Peaks opens Saturday

All waxed up with nowhere to go?

Sun Peaks will be welcoming skiers this weekend.

The Kamloops ski resort announced Monday it will open for the season Saturday.

"The forecast is quite promising for later this week with a combination of natural snow and cooler temperatures that will allow our snow-making system to kick into high gear," the hill stated in a news release.

"While terrain will be limited, things are looking up and we are excited to have people sliding on snow again. Plans at this time indicate likely downloading on the Sunburst chair with skiing and riding at mid-mountain elevations."

Conditions permitting, we will also open limited Nordic skiing trails this Saturday.

Full details will be available in the coming days.

Lift tickets are 50 per cent off for the opening weekend of skiing at Sun Peaks.
