The B.C. government is putting forth money for increased safety initiatives in communities across the province, investing $40 million toward more policing, new equipment, infrastructure and service delivery.
Kamloops and area will be receiving just shy of $1.5 million, and the area around Salmon Arm will get $744,507.
“These grants allow local governments to focus on the public safety projects that are most important to them,” said Kamloops-South Thompson MLA Todd Stone.
“They also reflect one of our government’s top priorities – working toward safer communities.”
- Kamloops will receive $408,043 in traffic fine revenue
- Clearwater will receive a small community grant of $145,579
- Barriere will receive a small community grant of $143,938
- Chase will receive a small community grant of $142,945
- Sun Peaks will receive a small community grant of $81,867
- The Thompson-Nicola Regional District will receive a grant of $49,504
- Salmon Arm will receive $69,561 in traffic fine revenue and a small community grant of $76,783
- Spallumcheen will receive $8,642 in traffic fine revenue and a small community grant of $183,874
- Enderby will receive a small community grant of $157,782
- Sicamous will receive a small community grant of $131,177
- The Regional District of Columbia-Shuswap will receive a grant of $56,576
- The Regional District of North Okanagan will receive a grant of $60,112
