Kamloops adds Edmonton flights

Kamloops Airport, on Sunday, welcomed passengers inbound from Edmonton as WestJet Encore inaugurated its new daily non-stop service from Edmonton International Airport.

“Alberta is a growing market for Sun Peaks and Edmonton in particular has a long history with our resort,” said Christopher Nicholson, President, Tourism Sun Peaks. “Now instead of a road or bus trip, travellers from this area can hop a plane to enjoy a ski getaway and take advantage of the sophisticated amenities at Canada’s second largest ski area."

The new service is also a boon for the region’s business community, connecting businesses and commuting workers to Northern Alberta. With passenger numbers up more than seven per cent in 2014, Kamloops Airport is working hard to bring more options to travellers.

“This is a great testament to the service we can provide when people choose to travel through their local airport,” said Fred Legace, Kamloops Airport Managing Director.

Kamloops Airport serves destinations across B.C. and Alberta, including Vancouver and Calgary. WestJet Encore departs Kamloops daily at 4:30 p.m. using a Bombardier Q400 aircraft.
