Man killed by truck
A man has died after being hit by a semi-truck on Highway 1 near Chase.
Around 5 a.m. Saturday morning, RCMP responded to a report of a pedestrian struck by a truck on the highway east of Chase.
The man was seen by passing drivers and apparently was entering the lanes of the highway when he was hit by a tractor-trailer.
The man was transported by ambulance to Royal Inland Hospital in Kamloops, where he succumbed to his injuries.
The road conditions were bare and dry at the time, but it was not yet full daylight.
Flaggers were called out to keep traffic moving while an RCMP traffic analyst examined the scene.
Alcohol may have been a factor in the incident, and the investigation continues.
The name of the deceased is not being released pending notification of family.
