Man survives bullet to the face

Four men are in custody and one is in hospital after a man suffered a gunshot wound to his face.

Just before midnight on August 2, Kamloops RCMP said they received a report of a man covered in blood from "his face to his feet."

The 23 year-old man was located on the front step of a house on Fortune Drive, conscious and breathing, but badly injured.

The man was transported to Royal Inland Hospital where doctors determined he had been shot in the left cheek and sustained injuries to his right hand. There is now a bullet lodged near his spine and he will require surgery. His injuries do not appear to be life threatening.

RCMP said they quickly located the scene of the shooting at a nearby residence on Fortune Drive.

Four occupants of the residence were taken into custody for questioning. Police canvased the area for statements from potential witnesses.

The Kamloops Serious Crime Unit was contacted and immediately attended the scene. The investigation continues and police are asking if anyone has any further information regarding this event, to please contact the Kamloops RCMP at (250) 828-3000.
