Girl assaulted at park

Police are looking for a man who accosted a teenaged girl in Kamloops Monday.

Constable Jason Epp says the incident happened near the water park washrooms in Riverside Park around 5:30 p.m.

According to the young girl, a man approached her from behind and put his hand over her mouth and fondled her. The girl was unable to see the man or get a description.

An older woman exiting the washroom interrupted the assault and yelled at the man, who turned and fled on foot.

The investigation is ongoing and police are reminding the public to be vigilant and aware of their surroundings, even in public settings.

Kamloops RCMP are looking to speak with the older female witness and ask that she or any other witnesses contact the detachment at 250-828-3000.
