Fatal crash on Hwy. 1
A driver of a small pick-up truck is dead following a head-on crash with a semi early Thursday morning. The accident happened just after midnight.
RCMP say the pick-up truck was travelling eastbound on Highway 1 west of Pritchard, when it crossed over the centre line, colliding into an oncoming semi truck/trailer travelling westbound.
The driver of the pick-up was the lone occupant, the driver of the semi was not injured. Both vehicles sustained significant damage and Highway 1 was closed for over four hours.
The BC Coroners Service, Pritchard Volunteer Fire Department, Chase RCMP and the BC Ambulance Service attended the scene.
The cause is not known, but speed, drugs and alcohol are not suspected. The name of the deceased has not been released.
