Man dies after swim

A vacation for an elderly couple from Surrey took an unfortunate turn this weekend in Kamloops.

An 84-year-old man passed away after nearly drowning at Paul Lake on Saturday.

Kamloops RCMP say the man reportedly entered the water to cool off when he became unable to swim and his wife called for help.

Nearby neighbours were able to remove the man from the water for medical assistance. He was then taken to Royal Inland Hospital by air ambulance, where he passed away later that same evening.

The death is not believed to be suspicious.
