Motorcycle crash

A motorcycle rider was sent to hospital after he crashed his bike Thursday night.

Just after 9:30, Kamloops RCMP and Kamloops Fire & Rescue converged on a single vehicle motorcycle accident on Highway 1, at the Columbia Street West overpass.

A motorcycle driven by a 25-year-old Kamloops male was travelling westbound on Highway 1 at a high rate of speed when he lost control and struck the concrete barrier on the right side of the highway which resulted in the driver being thrown from the bike and eventually coming to rest west of the Columbia Street West on-ramp.

The driver was transported to Royal Inland Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

The on-ramp to Highway 1 from Columbia Street West was closed for over an hour while Police investigated the accident scene.  Speed and alcohol are contributing factors to the crash and the driver is facing several charges.
Any witnesses to this accident are asked to call Kamloops RCMP at 250-828-3000.
