Kamloops RCMP stopped an apparent erratic driver on Hwy. 5 near East Shuswap Road in Kamloops on Friday during the noon hour.
The three occupants of the vehicle ended up ditching their ride and escaping on foot before finally being tracked down.
Police located a 40 caliber handgun, 12 long barrel guns and 19 grams of cocaine.
The events unfolded when an unmarked Central Interior Traffic Services vehicle tracked down the reported vehicle on Hwy. 1, near the scales. Officers activated the emergency lights and siren.
The suspect vehicle did not stop, continuing on Hwy. 5 toward Merritt. The officer did not pursue.
Police spotted the same vehicle a little later heading back towards Kamloops. The vehicle, a 1998 Dodge Stratus with Alberta plates, turned onto Copperhead Drive where it dangerously evaded another police vehicle. The Dodge then pulled into the old Rona store on Versatile Drive and three suspects ran off on foot.
Nicholas Stephen Galbraith, 28, of Alberta was apprehended shortly afterwards without incident. The second male managed to get to Canadian Tire on Hillside Drive, where he attempted to steal a tractor trailer which was left running in the loading bay, but was apprehended by police before making the escape in the big rig.
The third male was later apprehended without incident.
Only one person is being named at this time. The other two, aged 16 and 17, are also from Alberta.
All three suspects were remanded on numerous charges. They are due back in court on Thursday in Kamloops.
