Arrest made in shooting

Six-weeks after an early morning shooting sent one man to hospital, Kamloops RCMP have made an arrest.

RCMP Cpl. Cheryl Bush says the investigation began after RCMP were called to a complaint of shots fired in the 1900 block of Tranquille Road around 3 a.m. on April 7.

“Investigators learned that there had been an altercation between two individuals who were known to each other, a firearm was produced and a male victim ended up in the hospital with a single gunshot wound.”

The investigation was carried out by the Kamloops Serious Crime Unit and the Targeted Enforcement Unit, leading to the arrest of a 29-year-old Ashcroft man who is well known to police, on May 21.

“Police will be recommending charges of attempted murder with a firearm and aggravated assault against the male,” adds Bush.
