UPDATE 2:30 P.M. April 9
Kamloops RCMP Cpl. Cheryl Bush says they've called in the Special Investigative Unit and the coroner to deal with remains found Tuesday in Kamloops.
Bush says there is no new information as to how old the remains are, or any additional information as to the age and sex of the person found.
“The investigation is ongoing and specialists from the BC Coroners Service were attending the scene today to work with our investigators to assist in determining the identity and to jointly examine the area to determine how the remains ended up where they were discovered," said Bush. " They will also determine if there was anything suspicious in the death, that is where we are at right now."
Will provide more details as they become available.
Kamloops RCMP have confirmed that human remains have been found in the city.
Cpl. Cheryl Bush says they received a call Tuesday morning about the discovery in a remote area towards the west end of Mission Flats Road.
Investigators with the Serious Crimes Unit have confirmed the finding and along with the coroner, will excavate the area and continue their investigation.
