Hwy. 5 reopens
2 p.m. update: Hwy. 5 north of Kamloops is open to single lane alternating traffic.
9 a.m. update: DriveBC says they may have the route open to single lane alternating traffic by 9:30 a.m.
6 a.m. story: A rock slide has closed Highway 5.
The slide came down early Thursday morning on the Southern Yellowhead Highway, about 14 km. south of Barriere.
The highway is closed in both directions.
DriveBC says an assessment is ongoing, but there is no estimated time of opening.
The next update is expected at 8:30 a.m.
