Councillor resigns

The City of Kamloops announced today that Councillor Nancy Bepple has resigned from Council effective immediately due to health reasons.  Councillor Bepple has served as a City Councillor since November 2008 contributing innumerable hours on Council and several committees where she was appointed and elected.

Most recently, Councillor Bepple was sitting on the Federation of Canadian Municipalities (FCM) committees including the Northern Remote Forum, Increasing Women’s Participation in Municipal Government and Environmental Issues & Sustainable Development.  In addition, Councillor Bepple was elected to the Thompson-Nicola Regional District starting in 2012.

“It has been a huge honour to serve the people of Kamloops.  My fellow Councillors are dedicated and full of integrity, living by Council’s principles to be responsive and accountable.  I have great respect for the outstanding staff at the City of Kamloops and will miss working with them for the betterment of this community,” states Nancy Bepple.

Mayor Peter Milobar says, “We are saddened to learn of Councillor Bepple’s resignation, but greatly respect her decision to put her health first.  She was very committed to her role on Council and the many committees she was involved with.  Nancy was extremely dedicated and could be counted on to do her homework before attending Council and committee meetings.  She could also be counted on to attend other community meetings and events, whether a public hearing, ribbon cutting for a business or a fundraiser for a local charity.  This does not include the countless hours she spent meeting with residents to learn about local issues.  She will be truly missed.”
