Sun Peaks skier gets call to Sochi
A second Kamloops area athlete will be competing in the Sochi Olympics, as Elli Terwiel was one of nine skiers (six men and three women) added to the team on Monday.
Terwiel is a slalom specialist and had three top-30 finishes during her breakout season on the World Cup circuit in 2012-2013.
Her best finish on the World Cup circuit was an 11th place finish at a slalom event in Finland last November.
Terwiel joins Jessica Hewitt of Kamloops who will compete in short track speed skating.
The Sochi games begin with the opening ceremonies Feb 7.
The women's slalom is slated to be held at the end of the games on Friday, Feb 21.
