Boyfriend arrested in murder

Kamloops RCMP have made an arrest in the murder investigation of 16-year-old CJ Fowler.

On December 5, 2012 Fowler's body was located near Guerin Creek in Kamloops.

Since that time, the Kamloops Detachment Serious Crime Unit has had conduct of the investigation which has spanned much of the province.

On Friday January 10, investigators arrested twenty-two year old Damien Lawrence Taylor in Kelowna, where he had been residing for the last few months.

The two were considered to be in a dating relationship.

Taylor is not considered a suspect in any other active or ongoing investigations. He is currently in police custody and is scheduled to make an appearance in Kamloops Provincial Court on Monday.

"We are planning on blessing the place where she was found," said CJ's father Glen Wilson, of the Gitanmaax First Nation Band. "In a sacred ceremony so that she wont be stuck in that place."

CJ would have turned 18-years-old this month and been finishing high school.

"When [my wife and I] were told the news [of the arrest] we both sighed at the same time," said Glen. "A sigh of relief."
