I received a notice of a hearing from the B.C. Securities Commission that their enforcement staff has called three individuals to be present to set a date for a hearing on January 5, 2011 in Vancouver. The three represented a company called Photo Violation Technologies. They are alleged to have sold $5.2 million in stock. The sad part about this entire mess is that the three were licensed to sell stock in this province and that all of the money is probably gone. We believe that a major portion of this money was raised in the Okanagan and the Interior. I have had e-mails from locals who had thousands invested in the company and their idea for a new idea in parking meters.
This parking meter was very elaborate with the latest technology. The driver was to feed the meter with cash or credit card and their cell phone number. Then when there was something like ten minutes left on the parking clock it would phone you and remind you and you could go out the to the meter and reload it or do it with your phone.
The commission will set the date for the hearing on January 5, 2011 to see if the three, Fred Marlatt, Michael and his father Tim Minor can be fined or stopped from selling securities in this province. That of course is not going to get the money back for the people here who invested some really big bucks.

Have you received this type of e-mail yet this year? It is making the rounds and has people in a flap. There is no intention of doing such a thing.
People pay for this privacy. If you have received a call on your cell phone
from some company it is because their automatic dialing machines have just dialed who knows what number. So no panic. Life is good.
REMEMBER: Cell Phone Numbers Go Public this month.
REMINDER..... all cell phone numbers are being released to telemarketing companies and you will start to receive sales calls.
.... YOU WILL BE CHARGED FOR THESE CALLS
To prevent this, go to the following web-site for Canadian Telephone Numbers:
www.lnnte-dncl.gc.ca
It is the National DO NOT CALL list. It will only take a minute of your time.. It blocks your number for five (5) years.
HELP OTHERS BY PASSING THIS ON .. It takes about 20 seconds.

The Summerland Credit union was started in the town in 1944.

If you have been to Costco during this Christmas season then you know how busy this store has been. In Canada Costco’s same store sales were larger than the analysts predicted. Costco numbers in many categories are stronger with record sales gains. Their Executive membership rose three per cent in the last quarter. These are cards that cost the member $100 annual fee. These members actually spend twice as much as the regular business members who pay $50. The Executive members make up a third of the overall membership and over two thirds of the sales.

Not very many people write thank you notes. They were personal and I liked them. I am getting so bad at this now that the computer is in front of me all the time. I am the worst and I am going to change that. Dashing off an e-mail just isn’t the same. One of the first things I learned back when it all started was to use thank you cards and ways to contact people that I knew, whether it was a something I had read that might interest them, or just an update on something of interest. We were taught to use the system to contact five people a day personally. Seemed like a big job then but it helped over the years to build a solid relationship worth many people that has lasted over the years. I just need to get the pen out again.
