ABC, CBS and NBC are trying to add new life to Friday night TV by launching new scripted series with established stars such as Tom Sellick and Jimmy Smits, while The CW is shifting its audience favorite returning series "Smallville" and "Supernatural" to Friday. The extra attention for what lately has been a "dumping ground" for shows is partly due to networks' belief that more people are staying home at the start of the weekend because of the economic slowdown and the lack of strong shows on rival cable networks.

A truly great place to shop and see people has to be the Farmer’s and Crafter’s Market at Orchard Park every Wednesday and Saturday. We took our granddaughter with us and we went hunting for corn. We ended up with bags of goodies including fresh late peas, which were tremendous. I didn’t know there was such a thing. Good peaches, so fresh and juicy. It certainly beats those U.S. peaches in the food stores.
I like to people watch and there there is a mosaic of the community walking around looking for who knows what and eating waffles on a stick. What a great experience that is every week. Maybe there will be some good news coming from the market on their future plans soon.

Buffalo Wild Wings, the Minneapolis-based company that has successfully mixed chicken wings, beer and sports into one of the fastest growing restaurant chains in the United States, is running out of room to expand on its home turf and is coming to Canada.
"We're kind of at critical mass in the U.S. now. We're in 45 states, 680 locations and we set a goal of 1,000 locations in the U.S. by 2013, which now looks like we'll achieve," said Sally Smith, CEO of Buffalo Wild Wings Inc.
Smith was in Toronto to finalize lease agreements in Oshawa and Mississauga. The next locations will be in Edmonton and Calgary. Then it’s
on to B.C.

We found a new Italian restaurant in West Kelowna at 2460 Main Street. The Amerigo’s Nuraghe Ristorante Italiano. I should say the Mrs. found the place and we took our visitors there for an Italian meal and it was terrific. It’s a quaint little place that seats maybe fifty people. The food was extra special, with hot crispy buns. Everything is cooked on sight, homemade if you will, and chef Amerigo Ennas has been a chef for sixteen years and knows his business well. Red and white checkered tablecloths give the two rooms an atmosphere that is warm and friendly. A complete wine list is available. The service was terrific and the food was hot. Put it on your list for the future. I’m sure they also have take out available.

If you’re in a big parking lot these days you are going to be approached by men who are really looking for work so they say, but what they really want is the Loonie you put in the slot for the grocery cart. It had happened to us three times so far and I saw three men over on the side dividing up their score. That was a new one for me.

Kids as young as five are taught how to dial 911 in an emergency, but at least one five-year-old needed a lesson in the definition of emergency.
The Kelowna boy thought he'd teach his sister a lesson by calling 911 when she hogged the family computer.
He phoned police, complaining his six-year-old sister wouldn't let him have his turn on the keyboard, and then he hung up.
RCMP Const. Steve Holmes says an officer soon came knocking on the family's door and spoke to the boy about when to dial 911.
Holmes says police hope he has learned his lesson.
