Here and there

I have been involved with the Wendy’s Dreamlift Day for sixteen years, as have many others who give of their time to support the annual event. It is an amazing day. The big story behind the scenes is the effort by all the staff and management of the Wendy’s nine locations across the Interior. All the staff gives of their services turning over the wages they would make to the fund, as well as management. Some of the ex-staff come back just to work the day. It is a total effort with all funds that day going to the Sunshine Foundation for their “Dreamlift to Disneyland” for more than eighty kids. I know one father who tells me his son still speaks of that special event all the time.

This is an ideal time to take your staff out for lunch or pick up salads in the morning through the drive-thru. The date is Wednesday, January 27 and it all starts at 6am when you can pick up the salads and coffees for your staff.

It is such a big day for the kids.

One of the many businesses that the Jimmy Pattison Group has in the valley is the headquarters for finance for their very international News Group. The North American company is a supplier of magazines, books and periodicals to 33,000 retailers with 45,000 deliveries every week. The company just purchased another U.S. distributor to add weight to their already major position in the marketplace. The News Group now has 148 service centres and 51 distribution centers on both sides of the border.

Think about it, it makes sense that Oprah wanted to visit the Pattisons on their yacht last year. She publishes a very popular magazine and The News Group distributes it.

It is written that the News Group receives, delivers and tracks over two billion copies of all periodical copies per year.

Don’t want to forget to congratulate the city of Vernon on its new logo. It is very well done and I like the colour combination. A Vernon company, Stephanie Tambellini Design, created the design. Well done. The city now has a logo that can be used for both tourism and city business.
