Rumours and things

Is it finally going to happen? We have been watching the Governor's Landing site for at least three years where the new Real Canadian Superstore was to be built. It was all part of the signage for the announcement of the new mall on the site. Then there was a slow down in any work on the property and then a complete stop. In the meantime the Loblaws group was building a Superstore in Vernon. You couldn’t get a straight answer on what the plans for West Kelowna were and whether they would go through with the building of the site or was it off completely. Nothing official was ever said.

We speculated many times, heard many rumours and that was about all.
The Vernon store turned to be a spectacular layout and quite a shopping experience. The West Kelowna store was planned in the same manner.

Now we have it on pretty good authority that the West Kelowna location is a go and should be completed for opening in June of next year. I understand
we should hear something official soon.

The leasing agent on the property is Anthem Properties of Burnaby and Superstore will be a welcome addition to the successful shopping mall...

Everything seems to indicate that lender in The Conservatory mess on Glenmore Road is going to be solved because the lender, Conexus, and the builder, Vic Van Isle Construction, have been working on a deal to finish the building and complete the project. I hope so for the residents of Glenmore's sake because it has been an eyesore for them for way too long. Vic Van Isle is a good builder and he can make that place sparkle, as it should be...

All who have been wrongly barred from flying thanks to a terrorist watch-list "mix-up," take heart: U.S. airlines will start asking travelers to provide their birth date and gender under a new aviation-security requirement, in an effort to prevent no-fly-list confusion. The change comes as the Department of Homeland Security assumes responsibility for checking passenger names against government watch lists, The Washington Post reports. Airlines will forward the personal details to the Transportation Security Administration, to clear up situations in which travelers have similar names as those on terrorist lists. The information will allow 99 percent of travelers to avoid delays, officials said. The new requirements will be implemented between now and March 2010 once the program is fully up and running, passengers who don't provide the info could be denied boarding passes...

Corner Gas creator and star Brent Butt says it's "kinda goofy" that his celebrated show has been snubbed by the Geminis this year.

Nominations for the awards, which celebrate the best in Canadian television, were announced, but Corner Gas did not make the cut in a single category.

Butt says that he's surprised but is not angry, adding he is too busy trying to wrap his head around the omission.

He says you have to take these things "with a pound of salt."

Corner Gas, widely considered the most popular Canadian sitcom of all time, ended a critically acclaimed six-season run in April.

Butt is writing and producing a new comedy series for CTV. Entitled Hiccups, the series will star his wife Nancy Robertson as a children's author who begins seeing a life coach to deal with her anger management issues.

The Butt’s live in Vancouver where he will produce the show.
