I know this has probably bothered you over the last few months as the robo-call system called your home or even your work to tell you your warranty on your car is about to run out or there was a better interest deal available on credit cards than you were currently receiving. These calls asked you to dial "one" if you needed more information and "three" if you wanted your name deducted from the information service. The second item doesn’t work and the first is to get you to talk to one of their closers who are really just after your credit card information.
We are told that the company making millions of calls a day through their robo system is operating from Ft. Lauderdale, Florida. They are listed as Transcontinental Warranty Inc.
But it was tough for the consumers to report this company because they couldn't get its name. The name is never used. There are two states that go after the telemarketers with Kentucky being one of them. It is ready for the courts to take over...
Canadians are brown-bagging their way through the economic downturn, as the recession forces them to cut costs and seek better value, says a Royal Bank survey.
Six in 10 Canadians kept a closer eye on expenses over the past 12 months, according to RBC's fourth annual account habits poll, released Monday.
Further, more than half (56 per cent) said they have stopped buying non-essential items and 44 per cent said they are eating out less or bringing their lunch to work to save more...
Construction at the Walmart site in Kelowna in Central Plaza is moving along on schedule with an opening penciled in for November of this year. The 40,000 square foot addition is quite spectacular because it looks like the store is about to double although in reality the store is being increased to 173,000 square feet with a Supercentre format and groceries being the focus of attention. The first Supercentre for the worldwide chain in the Okanagan was built at The Hub II in Westbank. Additions are planned for Vernon, Penticton and Kamloops to make all the stores Supercentres. Walmart is in the grocery business big time.
Just think of the food bargains that will be available to customers in that area of Kelowna with Costco, Superstore, Safeway and Save-On all on the strip. You know that is going to be a shopper’s paradise...
Vancouver Whitecaps camps operate on the Mainland as Spring and Summer camps and through BC, as BC camps. The Whitecaps also have a full summer of camps in the Okanagan.
Whitecaps camps are designed as age specific training programs with the objective to ensure players of all levels are challenged, focused and have fun in a professional development environment.
Additional objectives is for Whitecaps staff to scout and evaluate players in the various regions, and give those players the chance to play in the club's Prospects youth system. This connection is what makes the Whitecaps camp program so successful and unique.
Sam Lenarduzzi is at all camps as the Camp Manager and regional scout. Sam leads top-class professional instruction from Whitecaps FC youth coaches and players. He is the original captain of the Whitecaps where he played for nine years. Sam has also played for Canada over 47 times and is a member of the Canadian Soccer Hall of Fame.
