Phase 2 Of Central Park Begins

It is a happening place this new power shopping center at Central Park. The first phase has been a huge success. The phase two is about to begin, with the first shovels in the ground for the Wal-Mart store. The 133,500 square foot store should be open Feb 5, 2005. There is a provision for a 40,000 square foot expansion when required, and from all indications that could be sooner than later.

Well known local contractors Norson Construction Ltd. Have received the contract from Wal-Mart to build both the Kelowna and Penticton stores. They built the Wal-Mart in Langley. They have done major retail construction all over the province. Both Orchard Plaza and Orchard Park have used Norson Construction for years. They are a very respected builder. Norson is one of the largest builders of specialty sound stages for the B.C. film and audio business. Twenty to date.

Also on the property will be the new to market Winner’s HomeSense. I just knew that part of the chain had to come to this market. Home fashions off-price wide selection, rapidly changing selection of cookware, linens, rugs, accent furniture and seasonal items are all in store. This concept was started in Western Canada and has just moved into the Eastern market. The HomeSense store will be 26,000 square feet. Also on the property a new Bowrings, their first location in the Interior. Canadiana Gifts, started by a British watch and clock maker in 1811. There are now two stores in B.C. Coquitlam and Langley. The store will be 6,500 square feet.

There are two new eating spots on phase two. East Side Mario’s, featuring an Italian food menu and pizza, family casual dinning, red and white checkered table cloths, and all the salad and garlic loaf you can eat. Prime Restaurants Canada owns the chain and it will be a local franchise operator. Prime owns six food groups in Canada.

The second food and beverage house is the Cactus Club Café. There are eleven locations in Canada. The picture of the bar design I saw was quite spectacular. Their menu featured items like Certified Angus Beef and B.C. Chinook Salmon, fresh. It has a good atmosphere...
