You're fired

I am not sure whether to laugh or cry watching the political scrum unfold in the US. At least it serves to take my mind off the horrendous budget deficit about to unfold in Ottawa.

Mr. Trump is no more a statesman than he is an astronaut. But his head sure is in the clouds with the support that he is getting. Will he succeed?

I think we need to define success before we answer the question, but with that being said it is almost inevitable that he will win the Republican nod - which is sad.

What is sad about the situation is that nobody in the Republican party appears to be courageous enough to say, “Mr Trump, you’re fired,” which I think would be a fitting end to his political aspirations, as comical as they are.

The party appears to be afraid of the public support that Trump is gathering at his presentations, and yet in reality, I refuse to believe that the American public would not vote in an alternative to Trump, given the chance.

Let’s just remind ourselves that this is the man who said:

“We are losing a lot of people to the Internet. We have to do something. We have to go see Bill Gates and a lot of different people that really understand what's happening. We have to talk to them [about], maybe in certain areas, closing that Internet up in some way.”

Judging by his ignorance, I would suspect he does not use a computer or have an email account. I could be wrong, maybe he has just figured a way to turn off the Internet.

Let’s not forget he also said:

"I will build a great wall — and nobody builds walls better than me, believe me —and I’ll build them very inexpensively. I will build a great, great wall on our southern border, and I will make Mexico pay for that wall. Mark my words.”

Really - the remnants of a wall are sitting there after untold complications with attempting to get access to private land to put the wall up . . . surely Trump is not considering reducing the rights of a private land owner? Mexico pay? I think he underestimates the power and intelligence of a vast segment of Mexican Society. Mexico City itself does about 1/4 of Canada’s GDP.

Of course there have been many other bizarre gaffs, including being seemingly stoned when answering the completely wrong question on several occasions.

I suspect that most countries have likely revoked his access anyway, given that he has in some form or another slandered just about every race, gender, country, and socio-economic status.

Will he be president? - I just don’t see it happening. That being said, I am trying to figure out what sauce to cook my hat in, just in case.
