Express movie reviews

Whether you've read the book or not, this futuristic, sci-fi movie was incredibly well done. All the sets, special effects and acting impressed me and I found it stayed fairly loyal and consistent to the book. I like when movie plots like this one present you with moral dilemmas that keep you talking after the show and give it more substance than "just another post-apocalptic movie."
My review: 29/34
Reminded me of: Star Trek, Gravity, Star Wars, Hunger Games
I appreciate a movie that can astound, surprise and keep you in suspense, even after you've watched the trailer. Gravity was not at all what the trailer made it out to look like, and I spent my time wondering, "Does that really happen in space?" and "How on earth did they shoot this scene?" It's an intense movie with solid acting and must-see 3D that will actually make you jump and flinch, and (though I didn't know what to expect), it exceeded my expectations.
My rating: 29/34
Reminded me of: Wall-E, Armageddon, Apollo 13, Moon
Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs 2:
After absolutely loving the first one, I had high expectations for the sequel. Though some parts were genuinely entertaining and made me laugh out loud, other parts were too high on the super-weird-and-borderline-creepy scale. It's a goofy movie that kids will love, but it's so different than the original, there's a chance you might leave disappointed.
My Rating: 26/34
Reminded me of: Up, The Lorax, The Croods, Despicable Me 2
