Kelowna Cubs are hitting the ice
Oct 5, 2013 / 9:13 am
The Junior Curling season is starting at the Kelowna Curling Club.
The program in Kelowna is open to youth ages 7-18 yrs. The 7- 10 year old Cubs participate in the Little Rock Program on Thursday afternoons from 4-5pm.
The 11-18 year old cubs hit the ice on Tuesdays or Thursdays from 4- 5:30pm. Tuesday is Cub League Day, where teams are formed and skills are developed in the spirit of friendly competition. The focus of the Thursday program is skill development, which is incorporated into game play. Whether you have curled for a few years or want to give curling a try, we have a spot for you!
“What I love about Junior Curling in Kelowna is the constant fun and positive atmosphere while still learning awesome new things,” said Mackenzie Clark.
Our Cubs are seen curling not just in Kelowna, but all over the Okanagan and BC. With opportunities to play in the Cub-Spiel, the Thompson Okanagan Inter-City Junior Curling League, Regional Junior and Juvenile Playdowns, and travel to a variety of bonspiels in our region, Cubs are making thier mark on junior curling in BC.
“Kelowna has a great junior curling program with great coaching,” said Jesse Monette. “It’s a competitive, fun, great way to meet new friends and stay active.”
You can join The Kelowna Curling Cubs for the entire season (October- March) for $100. You can also sign-up by the quarter for $25/quarter. Quarters start on October 15th/17th, November 17th/19th, January 7th/9th, and February 4th/6th. It is through fundraising and the support of the Kelowna Curling Club that the cost of joining The Cubs is extremely reasonable.
