Downtown Kelowna's 'After 5'
Sep 27, 2013 / 12:43 am
The last Wednesday of every month you will likely find your local business owner, employee, sales rep and media personality mixing and mingling at the Downtown Kelowna Association’s ‘After 5’ event.
“We average about 300 people at every event. People like this event. It is awesome to see the business community come out and have fun, people are smiling and having a good time, they are networking and trading business cards and that’s really what it is all about. Its not what you know its who you know,” says Ryan Watters , Communications Manager of the Downtown Kelowna Association.
Entry to the After 5 event is open to everyone and its geared as a fun networking event.
“We use a downtown venue and downtown beer and food as much as we can, so supporting downtown local merchants is a part of the event which is nice,” explains Watters.
September’s event featured Tree Brewing Beer, Ex Nihilo wine, and appys passed out by Mission Tap House.
“Every month it is a different venue, so today we are at the Art Gallery, next month we are at the Delta Grand and after that back at the Laurel Packing House,” adds Watters.
Each month a local company hosts the event, the host company takes care of the wine, food and the beer.
Entry is $8, the event is from 5-7 pm, and includes two drink tickets and appetizers.
“Come, why not check it out. Its only $8, you get all sorts of food, you get two beverages and you get to meet lots of cool people,” says Watters.
