KidSport Golf Tournament

The bar was raised this year at the 16th Annual Rona KidSport and Friends Golf Tournament. Local businesses, tournament organizers and golfers combined their efforts to raise a record $31,000.00 for local kids and their families.

The annual June event has grown in popularity over the years and fills up immediately. The organizing committee is very pleased by this, but not surprised as local businesses each year donate generously to the cause resulting in numerous prizes for the participants.

KidSport Committee Chair Dave Lieskovsky said “We are so grateful to the golf tournament committee who push hard each year for this event resulting in more and more funds being raised for our cause. And the local business community really steps up to the plate in a big way. And this is essential, as the demand for our
program has increased dramatically over the past few years.”

This year’s June golf event attracted 168 golfers. The tournament committee includes Dick Ante, Jocko Bidlake, Cy Gladish, Jamie Moore, Don and Joy Jack, Holly Bidlake, and Bernie Bathgate. KidSport Penticton works to provide funding for low income families “So ALL Kids Can Play”. Each year the committee provide grants to children for their registration in several organized sports such as soccer, hockey, gymnastics, figure
skating, karate, and more.

In addition to the Rona KidSport and Friends Golf Tournament, the committee is also dependant on other local businesses and individuals to support this growing need.
